LOOKING FOR A STYLE THAT WILL DEFINE MY WORK

But I have a sense that the style which will define me as an artist (more so than a photographer I might add), is yet to come. It may involve mixed medium that marries photography with painting on large canvasses. It is this same sense that directs me to keep collecting images and to keep playing with different techniques, confident there will be a time when people will look at my work and say “that’s obviously David Kirkland’s photo.”

CORPORATE SHOOT….with a bit of personality

I like this photograph (Below). It may be a long way from what my client has used in the past but it brings a smile to my face just looking at it and – in a world crammed with images competing for attention – that’s valuable. Of course I shot a lot of stock images...

CAUGHT IN THE SPOTLIGHT

…tragic really. This (below) from a recent shoot in Samoa. My mother took one look at the pictures and commented on my receding hairline, my general manager (who took the photos) says he won’t let me forget it, my son has all but disowned me and my girlfriend is still demanding an explanation. DRAMA QUEENS IN SAMOA

Here (below) is Tim working the makeshift studio we set up in a hotel function room, helped along by two Fafafini’s (female impersonators) who added ( as you’d expect) a sense of drama and theatre to the shoot.
