Oh, and then there was the priceless expression on Pat’s face – the intrepid 83 year old Brit (pictured) who I kidnapped for the shoot – as she bent down to consider a Hornbill penis sheath worn by one of the men I was shooting, only to have its owner prize the beak open to reveal its contents. “It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen one of those,” she said.
My name has since moved into folklore among the wetland guides of Papua New Guinea after showing them this picture (above) on my computer.
I return to Papua New Guinea tomorrow, embarking on my most ambitious, and prestigious, publishing project to date – the creation of a Special Edition coffee table book on Papua New Guinea.
