Book number 15 – A gift from Papua New Guinea – rolled off the press this week (actually, it did so some months ago but its taken two %%$$#@! months to get here from Singapore). Still, it arrived and we’re all happy with the product. We’ve sent 1,000 to PNG to test the market while we work out how to distribute the rest of them effectively. Again, it hasn’t been without its challenges. It appears there is no such thing as a proof you can match to the print job anymore, timing – as in the time it takes from start to finish and your promise of a delivery date – is a major issue and costs associated with importing and shipping have escalated to eat into our profits (Yes, I would have preferred to print it in Australia but not at 300% of the price to print it in Asia). We’ll see how the market responds to it and look to meet demand. Given the cheapest book in PNG is about AUD$100, we figure the market will be happy to pay AUD$25 a book. Of course, its always a pleasure to see your images in print (……even if you have to print it yourself, he says).
