LIVE VOLCANOS, ZULU WARRIORS, OCEAN CRUISES, A PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK AND ANCIENT FESTIVALS. MY ASSIGNMENT CYCLE BEGINS. I’M OFF!

My promotional cycle has now ended and 2014 is shaping up to be a particularly busy year. I leave for Vanuatu on my first assignment Monday.

Already locked in are two assignments to Vanuatu, two cruises of Fiji (four days around the Yasawa Islands and an 11 day cruise of the Lau Islands), a commission in Victoria, two shoots in Samoa, a two week shoot of South Africa and a trip to photograph the Gogodala Festival in Papua New Guinea (…and, with four other assignments in the pipeline, there is some serious juggling to do).

Great! I’m looking forward to every one of them.

Taking some time over the Christmas period to work “on” my business rather than “in” my business,  and focus on where I want to be 10 years from now has been rewarding. It’s also been good to pause and study other travel photographers, to get more creative in my work and to “evolve” my personal style of photography (refer earlier entries).

So, I have returned refreshed, eager  to make better photographs than I did last year and hugely motivated to begin what will invariably become my professional legacy by recording and showcasing the vibrant – and vulnerable – traditional cultures of the South Pacific.

With that, I’m off to pack my new LOWEPRO camera bag (sorry, my first opportunity to blatantly plug my new sponsors) and peer into a live volcano on Tanna island in Vanuatu.

……..and I promise, less writing and more photographs on my blog from now on.
