As you can see from the short preview (below), I’ve just returned from an assignment of Fiji’s Yasawa Islands with Blue Lagoon Cruises and what a seven days it was. I mean, what’s not to enjoy about visiting places like these, sharing time with incredibly welcoming Fijians, swimming with manta rays and sharks, and generally snorkelling, eating, drinking and playing while you cruise the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands?
Add to this the perfect weather we had and – I’d have to say – it’s pretty hard to beat – even though I was working flat-out for the entire cruise, he adds (in case my client is reading this).
Highlights for this photographer included getting the conditions I needed to photograph spectacular Monuriki Island (which is where Tom and Wilson hung out to make the movie Castaway), the two days we spent with the ship moored to a palm tree off pristine Blue Lagoon Beach, getting up close and personal with a couple of manta rays, and the fact I was able to capture any ariel photos at all given I had to crash my drone into the stern of the ship at speed on day two as I only had 2% battery life remaining (refer to my Instagram feed for the gory details).
In closing, the most telling measure I can offer for those who may be interested this cruise is that I would highly recommend it to family and friends wo are looking for a relaxing, “small ship” cruising experience of Fiji. You’ll find all the details (and shortly recognise some of these photographs) at www.bluelagooncruises.com.
Oh, and the pics on the bottom of this post are of Mala Mala Island – a stay-for-the-day-only piece of paradise about half an hour’s boat ride out of Port Denarau, also owned by the company.
Next Assignment: Okinawa, Japan (and I’m excited). I leave in four days.
