I’ve just moved into an apartment overlooking the beach at Surfers Paradise (in fact, I’m in the building to the right of the tallest tower in the photo) – and I’m toying with the idea of publishing a travel guide and souvenir book on the Gold Coast while I’m here.
The project’s still in the planning phase while I weigh-up what the book would look like and whether I can build a business case to publish it. But I’m keen to produce a new style of guide book that combines photographs and short stories of the exceptional experiences that can be had by visitors who come here. I’d also like to write to the interests of the “thinking traveller” but I keep getting told people just don’t read anymore; they just want to look at pictures and show people where they’ve been.
Regardless, while I wait for international travel restrictions to lift, I’ll enjoy wandering around the Gold Coast with the cameras and adding a few new images to my commercial photo library.
